The number of people complaining about various ships IMO shows how much interest the player base has in that particular class of ship. For example:
BlackOps- either due to a lack of players able to fly them, or just a total lack of intrest because they can't fit a CovOps cloak (I think it's the latter), hardly anyone is whining/complaining about them. No balance complaints (buhu, this ship is way better/crappy than the rest etc.), no discussion, no nothing. No one cares.
This should give CCP some indication about the quality of their design.
EW Frigs: initially people complained about them, but that's only because they were the first thing they tried/tested. Now hardly mentioned. Verdict: people just arn't interested in them as much as other ships.
HICs (Heavy Interdictor Cruisers): again, a niche ship, and something that only a very small amount of the player base is interested in. This class probably matters the least as far as variation in individual ship performance, as it's sole role is to use the disruption field and try and live as long as possible. Again, people just don't care that much.
Marauders: every other ship balance thread is a whine about Marauders. This is the ship class that most players are interested in, and have the skills to fly and test. It's possible that players would be commenting on the BlackOps ships if they were given the skills to fly them, but I doubt it. The key thing here is that the BlackOps ships can't use CovOps cloaks.
So how many of you are looking forward to flying Marauders? BlackOps? Electronic Attack Ships? Heavy Interdictors?
My thoughts: Marauders will be novel, but not really worth the cost for PVP due to low sensor strength/long lock time. HICs: who cares? Can't use their bubble in low sec to kill MS/Capitals. The most anticipated use for them doesn't exist. EAS Frigs: cute, but Recons are just as good or better, and everyone I fly with is skilled up in Recons anyway. BlackOps: never going to use their jumpbridge. Ever. And without a CovOps cloak, they're useless to me when compared to a regular BS.
